Beginning in May I took an 8 week welding course at the local community college, focusing mostly on TIG welding to find out if I can and want to weld my own chassis and suspension for this car, or if I should get someone else to do it. It was a very good (and necessary) learning experience, and in the end I decided I don't want to weld my own stuff.
The reason is pretty simple. I can't stand it. The fumes bother me. But other than that it's great. And it's good to know. At this point I still need to learn a lot about layout and design of the jigs for all the different parts that will eventually need to be built. This is all part of the process.
